Feast of Saint Stephen the Protomartyr Celebrated at
The Ascension of the Lord Monastery

On Monday, December 27, 2004, His Eminence, Archbishop NATHANIEL celebrated the Divine Liturgy at The Ascension of the Lord Monastery in Detroit on the feast of Saint Stephen the Protomartyr.
His Eminence reciting the Entrance Prayers and preparing to give a blessing to the faithful.
The beginning of the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy.
"Blessed is the Kingdom, of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages."
Leading the responses that day was the Harisma Men's Choir of students from the Theological Institute in Bucharest, Romania.
Hierodeacon Neonil (Furdui) intones, "O Lord, save the faithful!"
The deacons read the Holy Gospel in the English and Romanian languages.
V Rev Archimandrite Dr Mihail (Filimon), abbot of the community, carries the chalice during the Great Entrance.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the Harisma Choir offered a short concert of traditional Romanian and American Christmas carols.  Seen here during the program are (from L-R): Archbishop NATHANIEL; Archimandrite Mihail (Filimon); V Rev Fr Laurence Lazar, Dean of Saint George Cathedral; and Rev Hieromonk Nicolae (Peicu) of the monastery.
