Archbishop NATHANIEL Celebrates the Sunday of the
Triumph of Orthodoxy at Saint George the Great-Martyr Church
Canton, Ohio

On Sunday, February 29, 2004, His Eminence, Archbishop NATHANIEL joined area clergy and faithful at Saint George the Great-Martyr Church in Canton, Ohio, for the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy.  The day began with a pan-Orthodox Hierarchal Divine Liturgy with two other local parishes joining the Saint George parish on this Feast Day.  Rev Fr George Treff, parish priest, and visiting clergy, prepare for the arrival of the Archbishop.
The clergy greet the Archbishop at the main entrance.
Two new Holy Gospel Books were blessed for use in the church.
His Eminence blesses the deacons.
The censer is prepared during the reading of the Epistle.
Archdeacon David Oancea censes the Archbishop.
"So that these together with us may glorify Your all-honorable and magnificent name: of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages."

The Consecration of the Holy Gifts.
The Communion of the Faithful.
"O God, save Your people and bless Your heritage!"

The choir from the Holy Assumption Church (OCA) led the responses.
As is traditional on this day, a procession is made around the church with icons, symbolizing the Triumph of Orthodoxy over those who forbid the use of icons in Christian worship in the early Church.
"This is the Faith of the Orthodox!"
At the end of the service, His Eminence preached to the faithful gathered there.
The Archbishop blesses an icon-on-glass written by a parishioner.
