Visit of Bishop NIKOLAI of Alaska to Saint George Cathedral

On Sunday, March 14, 2004, the third Sunday of Great Lent (Sunday of the Cross), His Grace, Bishop NIKOLAI, Bishop of Sitka, Anchorage and Alaska, visited Saint George Cathedral in Southfield, Michigan, at the invitation of His Eminence, Archbishop NATHANIEL.  Con-celebrating with them also was His Grace, Bishop IRINEU.

Later that evening, the hierarchs returned to the Cathedral for the Pan-Orthodox Vespers Service of the Council of Orthodox Christian Churches of Metropolitan Detroit.
Clergy receive the blessing of His Eminence, Archbishop NATHANIEL prior to the beginning of the service.

The main celebrant was the president of the Council of Churches, V Rev Fr Timothy Barna of Saint Michael the Archangel Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Redford, Michigan.
Clergy representing parishes from most Orthodox jurisdictions in the Metropolitan Detroit area take part in these Vespers services which are held on each Sunday during Great Lent, hosted by a different parish each week.
