The Celebration of Doamna Preoteasa Eleonora Lazar's
90th Birthday
Southfield/Detroit, Michigan
November 7, 2004

On Sunday, November 7, 2004, on the day that Saint George Cathedral in Southfield, Michigan, celebrated its 92nd Anniversary, the community also celebrated the 90th Birthday of Preoteasa Eleonora Lazar, wife of the late Rev Fr Eugen Lazar, and mother of V Rev Fr Laurence Lazar, Dean of the Cathedral.
Dr Lelia Giurea (front right) presents a homemade Romanian torte to Preoteasa, accompanied by Fr Laurence and her daughter, Mrs Eugenia Tirmonia.
The Cathedral Parish offered a small token of recognition for Preoteasa's life-long service to the Church.  Together with her husband, Preoteasa faithfully served parishes in South Saint Paul, Minnesota; Gary, Indiana; Youngstown, Ohio; and Akron, Ohio.  She was also especially active in the religious education of the youth of the diocese, having served as director of the Vatra Camps for many years.
Two friends, Preoteasa Eleonora with Mrs Ieliţa Daba.
