The Ordination of Subdeacon Cosmin Gheorghe Antonescu
into the Holy Diaconate
Southfield/Detroit, Michigan

On Sunday, February 20, 2005, His Eminence, Archbishop NATHANIEL celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Saint George Cathedral in Southfield/Detroit.  During the Divine Liturgy, he ordained Subdeacon Cosmin Gheorghe Antonescu into the Holy Diaconate.
Subdeacon Cosmin washes the hands of the Archbishop after the entrance prayers.
"Blessed is the kingdom of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages."
His Eminence, Archbishop NATHANIEL censing the faithful during the singing of the tropars.
His Eminence at the High Place with V Rev Fr Laurence Lazar, Dean of the Cathedral, during the reading of the Epistle.
Subdeacon Cosmin and Alexandru Radulescu, one of the cantors of the Cathedral, read the Epistle in both the English and Romanian language.
"Let us who mystically portray the cherubim and sing the thrice-holy hymn to the life-creating Trinity, lay aside every earthly care."

"May the Lord God remember those who have brought these holy gifts and those for whom they have been brought, the living and the dead, in His kingdom."
"And make this bread the Precious Body of Your Christ."
The candidate is brought from the back of the church by the deacons, prostrating himself three times.
The candidate kneels in front of the Holy Doors and receives a blessing from the hierarchs before being led into the Holy Altar and around the Holy Table three times.
"O holy martyrs, who contended valiantly and were crowned, intercede with the Lord for us that He have mercy on our souls."
The candidate prostrates himself before the hierarchs after each encircling around the Holy Table.

"He is worthy!  Vrednic este!"
"Holy things are for the holy!"

The faithful receive Holy Communion.
"Let us be attentive!  Having partaken of the divine, holy, pure, immortal, heavenly, and life-creating, fearful Mysteries of Christ, let us worthily give thanks to the Lord."

Following the service, the Cathedral Ladies Auxiliary offered a reception on honor of the new deacon and his family.
Dn Cosmin, together with his wife Camelia, thanks the Cathedral parish for their hospitality and briefly reflects on their vocation.
