On
Saturday,
March
12,
2005,
Saint
George
Cathedral
in
Southfield/Detroit
was
blessed
to
receive
a
relic
of
its
patron,
Saint
George
the
Great-martyr
and
Trophy-bearer.
At
the
conclusion
of
Great
Vespers
that
evening,
V
Rev
Fr
Laurence
Lazar,
Dean
of
the
Cathedral,
bearing
the
reliquary,
led
the
clergy
and
faithful
in
procession
around
the
Cathedral
church
as
they
sang
the
tropar
to
Saint
George.
The
relics
were
placed
in
the
middle
of
the
church
for
veneration
before
being
returned
to
the
Holy
Altar.

young
visitor
to
venerate
the
relic.
The
Cathedral
AROY
Chapter
was
hosting
the
annual
AROY
Spring
Sports
Tournament
that
same
weekend.
Therefore,
young
people
visiting
from
several
states
were
also
blessed
to
witness
this
special
event.
