Archbishop NATHANIEL Participates in the Consecration to
the Episcopacy of His Grace, Bishop MARC
Paris, France
May 6-7, 2005

On May 6-7, 2005, His Eminence, Archbishop NATHANIEL traveled to Paris, France, where he participated in the Consecration of the newly elected Auxiliary Bishop for the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Western & Southern Europe.  Archimandrite Marc (Alric), who will be consecrated, waits to greet the hierarchs with the Holy Gospel.
The Vespers that evening was celebrated by Archimandrite Marc at The Holy Archangels Michael, Gabriel & Raphael Romanian Orthodox Church in Paris.
Following the Vespers service, the Announcement of Election and Calling of the Candidate, Archimandrite Marc, took place.  Hierarchs seen here are (L-R): His Grace SILUAN, Auxiliary Bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Western & Southern Europe; His Eminence SERAFIM, Metropolitan of Germany & Central Europe; and His Eminence NATHANIEL.

He was born in Paris in 1958 and received his education there before going to the Sihastria Monastery in Moldova, where he was tonsured into monasticism in 1992.  He was ordained into the Holy Diaconate in 1992, then into the Holy Priesthood in 1994.  In 1995, he graduated from the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Iaşi.  Since 1996, he has been serving parishes and monasteries in France and translating various Orthodox writings into French from Romanian.

Following the Announcement and Calling, His Eminence, Archbishop NATHANIEL preached in Romanian, with translation into French by His Grace, Bishop SILUAN.

On Saturday morning, May 7, 2005, the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy, including the Consecration to the Episcopacy, was celebrated at The Holy Archangels Church.
Prior to the beginning of the Divine Liturgy, the Candidate's Profession of Faith took place.
Archimandrite Marc is led taken around the Holy Altar by His Eminence, Metropolitan SERAFIM and His Eminence ADRIAN, Retired Archbishop of Western Europe, as His Eminence IOSIF, Metropolitan of Western & Southern Europe, is seated and His Eminence DANIEL, Archbishop of Iaşi and Metropolitan of Moldova & Bucovina, looks on.
The Hierarchs pray over the new bishop.
Bishop MARC is vested in his episcopal vestments.

"He is worthy!  Vrednic este!"

His Eminence, Archbishop NATHANIEL places the engolpion around the neck of the new bishop.
His Grace, Bishop MARC, who has the title "Nemţeanul," blesses the faithful for the first time as bishop.
His Eminence, Metropolitan IOSIF offers a few words after Bishop MARC has been vested in the mantia and presented with his episcopal staff.

Other hierarchs participating in the consecration were: His Grace SOFIAN, Auxiliary Bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Germany & Central Europe; and His Grace IOACHIM, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Roman.
