While in Romania, His Grace visited some local monasteries.  Before coming to the United States in 2001, when he was Abbot of the monastery at Sambătă de Sus, His Grace was Exarch of the Monasteries for the Metropolitanate of Ardeal.
Here, His Grace is visiting the Dumbrava Monastery in Alba County.
Dumbrava Monastery provides a home for more than 20 elderly women (ages 80-100 years) and more than 40 orphan children.  They also provide shelter for abused women and crisis pregnancy mothers.
Under the direction of Archimandrite Vasile, the monastery does not receive any financial assistance from the Romanian government for its programs and relies on the generosity of benefactors.
