Hierarchs

Europe
and
America

Chancery]
–
Hierarchs
of
Romanian
jurisdictions
in
Western
Europe
and
North
America
will
meet
here
in
the
United
States
during
the
week
of
May
9-16,
2005.
The
hierarchs
gathered
last
year
in
Paris
and
will
be
hosted
this
year
by
The
Romanian
Orthodox
Episcopate
of
America
of
The
Orthodox
Church
in
America.
"Last
year
we
had
very
fruitful
discussions”
said
His
Eminence,
Archbishop
NATHANIEL.
“We
discovered
that
although
Orthodoxy
is
a
way
of
life
and
can
be
lived
in
every
circumstance,
there
are
some
differences
between
living
the
Orthodox
Faith
in
traditionally
Orthodox
countries
and
those
where
Orthodoxy
is
not
so
prevalent.
This
meeting
helps
us
to
exchange
our
experiences
so
that
we
can
better
serve
the
spiritual
needs
of
the
thousands
of
faithful
in
our
respective
jurisdictions.”
Several
of
the
hierarchs
will
arrive
in
New
York
on
Monday,
May
9,
where
they
will
be
met
by
His
Eminence,
Archbishop
NATHANIEL
and
hosted
for
dinner
by
His
Beatitude,
Metropolitan
HERMAN
at
the
Chancery
of
The
Orthodox
Church
in
America
in
Syosset.
The
next
day,
they
will
proceed
to
the
Monastery
of
The
Dormition
of
the
Mother
of
God
in
Rives
Junction,
Michigan,
to
join
the
rest
of
the
hierarchs
and
begin
their
informal
talks.
On
Thursday,
they
will
travel
to
Washington
DC
where
they
will
be
welcomed
at
several
locations
and
meet
with
various
government
officials
and
Ambassadors
from
the
countries
where
the
European
hierarchs
have
their
jurisdictions.
On
Saturday,
the
hierarchs
will
tour
Romanian
Orthodox
parishes
in
the
Detroit
area
and
celebrate
Great
Vespers
at
Holy
Trinity
Church
in
Troy.
Sunday
morning,
the
hierarchs
will
celebrate
the
Hierarchal
Divine
Liturgy
at
Saint
George
Cathedral
in
Southfield,
then
return
to
the
monastery
in
Rives
Junction
for
the
remainder
of
their
visit.
