ARFORA / Martha Gavrila Scholarship for Women

The ARFORA (Association of Romanian Orthodox Ladies' Auxiliaries in America) looks forward to offering the ARFORA / Martha Gavrila Scholarship for Women for yet another year.  The first scholarship was awarded at the 1985 ARFORA Congress held at Saint Mary Romanian Orthodox Church, Chicago, Illinois.

This scholarship is offered to women in post-graduate studies.  The sum of $1000.00 is awarded annually to a selected student.

REQUIREMENTS

1. The applicant must be a voting member of a parish of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America.

2. She must be a graduate of a duly accredited university or college.

3. She must be accepted by a graduate school or a duly accredited university and specify her course of study.

4. Three letters of recommendation must be mailed sealed, directly to the attention of the Scholarship Committee at the below listed address: one from the parish priest, and two from individuals not related to the applicant, attesting to her character.

5. A photograph must be included with the above specified information.

6. A formal letter projecting the applicant’s plans, including personal goals, projected use of degree, church and community involvement, honors and awards, shall constitute formal application.

This complete application must be in the hands of the Committee by April 30.
